YouTube is the world’s biggest video sharing site, so it’s often the first port of call for users looking to view a popular video. That means if you want to get your project seen by as many people as possible, YouTube is a great place to start.
Getting your finished project or trailer onto YouTube is easy with iMovie. The entire process can be completed within the app with just a few taps of your finger, as you’ll find out in this tutorial…
1. Select the project
From the home screen of iMovie, use your finger to scroll through the projects until the one you wish to export is in the centre of the screen.
2. Time to share
Tap the Share button at the bottom of the screen, then choose the YouTube option. iMovie will now ask you to sign into YouTube.
3. Titles and tags
You can now enter a title, description and enter tags for your video. These will help an audience understand the content of your video, so be as descriptive as possible.
4. Category
Tap the Category button and choose a suitable entry from the scroll bar.
5. Video size
Choose a video size for your project. iMovie defaults to Medium, which will produce a 480p video. Large and HD will produce better-looking videos, but they take longer to export and upload to the web.
6. Privacy
If you’d rather share your video personally with friends and family, then iMovie offers you the option to set the video as Private or Unlisted. Tap Public if you’re happy for anyone to watch your video.
7. Location
Finally, you can enter a location of your video. This is particularly helpful for holiday videos.
8. Shared!
Once you’ve entered titles, tags and customised your video, tap the Share button in the top-right corner of the screen. iMovie will now optimise and upload your video directly to YouTube.
