Add additional information to the Home Screen…
Think of widgets as small windows of information that you can place around the Home screen of your iPhone. You’ll find widgets that suggest new music, widgets that display photos from your library, and even a “smart” widget, which changes throughout the day to show you helpful information.
How to find and browse widgets
To browse the widget library, go to the Home Screen of your iPhone, then tap and hold on an empty space. When you see the app icons start to wiggle, tap the plus (+) button in the top-left corner of the screen.
At the top of the screen are suggested widgets based on your recent activity. Scroll down and you’ll find a list of every widget available. If you already know which widget you’re looking for, then use the search field at the top of the window to find it.
Tap on a widget within the list, and you’ll see the various sizes it’s available in. Some take up the space of four app icons, some six, while a few (such as Music) can be as big as sixteen app icons.
How to add a widget

Tap on a widget within the widget library, and it will appear on the Home screen. Notice that it’s doing a little wiggle. This means you’re in edit mode, so you can slide the widget around the screen using your finger. Once you’ve moved the widget to a suitable place, tap the Done button in the top-right corner.
Stack widgets

You can drag and drop one widget on top of another, and so long as they are both the same size, they will stack on top of each other. This means you can swipe vertically across the widget to go from one to another.
Edit widget stacks

Some widgets, such as “Smart Stack”, let you reorder the content which appears within it. To do this, just tap and hold on the widget then choose Edit Stack. You’ll then see a panel which lets you reorder or remove content.
Widget notes:
- You can have a home screen filled entirely with widgets.
- You can also have a home screen with just a single widget on it, and nothing else.
- Widgets can only be placed directly next to apps, so you can’t have a widget at the bottom of the screen with empty space above it.
- Widgets on the Home Screen work like apps, so when you’re ready to remove one, tap and hold on it, wait a moment, then tap the Remove Widget button which appears.
