The 5MP camera on iPad is the perfect way to capture those magical, spontaneous moments. Simply open the Camera app, snap away and those moments are captured for you to cherish or share

Because iPad records in full 1080p HD, videos look fantastic when played back on the Multi-Touch screen, or even a TV. In this tutorial you’ll learn how to make the most of the Camera app, including how to switch between photos and video, focus the camera and view your recordings. Read on to see how it’s done…


1. Camera app

Open the Camera app to get started. iPad will automatically focus on a subject and prepare to capture an image.


2. Video recording

You can switch to the video recorder by tapping the photo/video toggle switch in the bottom right corner of the screen.


3. On-screen grid

There are a few camera tools to help you take the perfect photo. The first is an on-screen grid that enables you to take a photos that are level with the horizon or environment. Simply tap the Options button at the top of the screen and slide the Grid toggle.

4. Focus

To focus the camera on a subject, simply tap on it using the iPad screen. You’ll notice that it focuses and adjusts the brightness levels.


5. Fix focus/brightness

To fix the camera on a particular focus and brightness level, tap and hold on a subject or area. You can revert to automatic focusing by tapping anywhere else on the screen.

6. Front Camera

Tap the Swap Camera button in the top right corner of the screen to enable the front-facing camera. It’s great for taking photos of yourself without using a mirror.


7. Capture and save

Captures are automatically saved in the Photos app. You can jump straight to a recent capture by tapping the thumbnail image in the bottom left corner of the screen.
